Schools Fundraisers: Relationship With Volunteers

In every schools fundraisers project, the importance of having competent and capable volunteers is valuable. A fundraising event that does not have competent volunteers to back up everything is surely going to fail. As a fundraising organizer, it is your job to ensure that your volunteers are skilled and capable enough to do their tasks and responsibilities with minimal supervision. Your relationship with your volunteers is very important in making sure that they will do their job religiously and without too much problems.

Schools fundraisers are primarily composed of a fundraising organizer which acts as the leader of the entire operation and the volunteers who act as the members of the organization. The organizer handles the management aspect of the fundraiser and the volunteers are the doers of the tasks and responsibilities needed for the entire operation. This is the general relationship of the leader and the members in any organization. Building a good relationship with your members takes time and effort.

You cannot easily gain the trust and faith of your members by authority alone. You have to show them that you are very capable in handling and leading them so that they give you their 100% performance. The first step in building a good relationship with your members starts at the recruitment stage. When recruiting them for your fundraising project, you have to show them that you are enthusiastic with the idea that they will be working for you. This will give them a sense of importance in your events and they will appreciate all throughout your fundraising event. Make sure that they will feel a part of your fundraising campaign and ask them what they can contribute to the success of your project.

Once they will feel comfortable working with you, the next step would be making sure that they also have something to share with you aside from their time and effort. Ask them about their own fundraising ideas that you can use in your events so that they can have a sense of ownership on your fundraiser. Take time to listen to their comments and recommendations since this will help you decide the best approach for your fundraising campaign. Remember that your fundraiser is not just your own, the ideas of your members is also equally important to the success of the entire operation.

Another way to build a good relationship with your members is to organize a small get-together party outside of your fundraising event. You can set-up a lunch-out or picnic together with your team so that they will become more comfortable working with each other. This is also a good time to relax from a long day of fundraising. Make sure to set the schedule of your get-together where everybody can come since they deserve it. You can obtain the entire expense of the event from your income so that everybody can come. This is also a good way of saying that you appreciate all the time and effort that they have given in your fundraising campaign. In this way, you can still expect their help and support in your future fundraising activities.
